48th Annual “Morris the Horse” Trials

“Morris the Horse” Trials at FENCE – October 21 & 22, 2023
For the 48th year, Tryon Riding & Hunt Club will be hosting “Morris the Horse” Trials at Foothills Equestrian & Nature Center (FENCE) in Tryon, NC. This is a US Eventing Association recognized/endorsed event.
The weekend kicks off at 6pm on Friday evening with the DEFENDER LOW COUNTRY BOIL at 6pm which is sponsored by Land Rover Asheville. A non-seafood option will be available. Watch for DEFENDERS on site, including at the DEFENDER POND on XC.
We run Dressage and XC on Saturday. Show Jumping on Sunday. We are delighted to have TRYON EQUINE HOSPITAL as our on-site veterinarians during the jumping phases. The divisions offered are:
- Intro – maximum 18 inch jumps
- Starter – maximum 2’3” jumps
- Beginner Novice
- Novice
- Training
- Prelim/Training (Prelim dressage and SJ; Training XC)
An Intercollegiate Team Challenge and an Interscholastic Eventing League is available. Teams receive a free tack stall. Please email the Secretary with your team members by the closing date to participate.
Our XC course includes jumps from TRYON INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTER. And, our prizes are courtesy of THE FARM HOUSE. Show awards include the TR&HC Perpetual Trophy, a Junior Low Score Award, TIP awards, and individual and team ribbons.
