Tryon Horse and Hound Show

The Tryon Horse and Hound Show brings back to Tryon one of the Club’s oldest historical events.  The oldest program in our records is for a show in 1935!  There is a reference to a first show in 1928 but we have not been able to find any actual records.

In recent times, the Club desired to re-establish the old tradition and so a Horse show was held in 2018 (and then again in 2019) and was the first club-sponsored horse show at Harmon  Field since the 1980’s.  In 2020, plans to add a hound show to the horse show were canceled due to the pandemic.  However, in June of 2020, a few fox hunting clubs decided to get together and hold a small, informal puppy show with full Covid precautions as a test event and this was concluded successfully.
