Philanthropy

TR&HC is committed to supporting the area’s charitable and civic causes. Through our Philanthropy program, TR&HC focuses its giving on local programs that support important needs in our community:

  • Animal welfare
  • Land conservation
  • Hunger relief and other community services

Over the last seven years, the Club has increased community donations from an average of $25,000 to $50,000 per year.

Our Mission

TR&HC believes in giving back to the community through donations made to local non-profits; both equestrian focused and non-equestrian community-based programs.

Our Objectives

TR&HC welcomes applications from organizations in Polk County and surrounding communities of Rutherford and Henderson counties (NC) and Greenville and Spartanburg counties (SC).  The Philanthropy program wishes to reach as many community organizations as possible.

PEER is a 501c3 organization serving the greater Foothills Area, providing skilled emergency rescue services for our equestrian and large animal agricultural community. Our team of trained volunteers and state of the art ambulances enable us to rescue large animals from dangerous situations.

Working under the supervision of veterinarians, and in cooperation with local first responders, PEER has participated in numerous rescues since our founding in 2006, without charging for our service.

Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry is a 501(c)3 crisis aid organization located in Columbus, NC.  Our mission is to provide compassionate assistance to Polk County residents who are unable to meet their basic life needs. At the heart of our organization is our client choice food pantry, where residents can shop for 2 baskets of groceries each month.

We also provide financial assistance for rent, utilities, prescriptions, dental care, and more.  Seasonal programs include the Feed-a-Kid school backpack program, school supply distribution, and Holiday program.  We accomplish all of this with local support - generous donors, foundations, churches, partner agencies, and dedicated volunteers.

Guiding Reins is an equine-assisted therapy program dedicated to improving the quality of life for military personnel, their families, veterans, first responders, and people with special needs or others affected by mental, physical, emotional trauma and/or challenges.  We offer both ground and mounted therapy in individual sessions as well as group events throughout the year with PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) certified instructors leading the sessions.

The success of equine assisted therapies and riding programs has been proven time and again, not only with physical challenges but also to enhance emotional connections and relieve mental stress among veterans.  Most programs in the Upstate area offer services to a wide array of individuals, but do not specifically address  target trauma-induced illnesses among veteran populations.  Guiding Reins aims to fill that void and offer their services at no cost to veterans.

Now, we are faced with this same post-traumatic stress among our Health Care Providers on the front lines of COVID-19. Guiding Reins is in the process of offering their services to this additional  population on a sliding scale and/or scholarships.
