TR&HC Horse and Hound Show

The Tryon Horse and Hound Show brings back to Tryon one of the Club’s oldest historical events. This show is believed to have started in 1928 though the first program we have located is for a show in 1935. Either way, this is historic!

For 2026, we anticipate both horses, hounds and the Silent Auction to return to our most recent location at FENCE. This show continues to grow in popularity and we are excited to build on its success this year. The prize list will be available at www.harmonclassics.com.

In terms of history, the Club desired to re-establish the old tradition and so a Horse Show was held in 2018 (and then again in 2019) and was the first club-sponsored horse show at Harmon  Field since the 1980’s. In 2020, plans to add a hound show to the horse show were canceled due to the pandemic. However, in June of 2020, several fox hunting clubs decided to get together and hold a small, informal puppy show with full Covid precautions as a test event and this was concluded successfully.
